Town Council

The Municipal Council determines the political, social and economic direction of the Municipality and controls its implementation. It includes the Mayor and twelve Councilors organized into council groups.

What does he/she/it do?

Election

The Councilors are elected directly by those enrolled in the electoral lists of the Municipality of Cortina d'Ampezzo and remain in office for five years, and in any case until the election of the new ones.

Their competences are established by art. 42 of Legislative Decree no. 267/2000 TUEL.

In summary, they deliberate on:

• fundamental acts such as the Statute, the Regulations, the Budget, three-year programs and the annual list of public works, territorial and urban plans;

• agreements between municipalities, constitution and modification of associative forms;

• direct assumption of public services, establishment of institutions and special companies, concession of public services, participation of the Entity in joint stock companies, assignment of activities or services by agreement.

Working

The Municipal Council has functional and organizational autonomy according to its own Regulations. It makes use of commissions established within its own bosom with a proportional criterion. The meetings of the Council and the Commissions are public, except for the cases provided for by the Regulations.

Council President

The Council has a President who convenes and presides over the assembly. For the Municipality of Cortina d'Ampezzo is the Mayor Gianluca Lorenzi.
